I knew when I first met Willemijn and Kurt that their wedding was going to be something special, and spending time with them at their sweetly romantic engagement session back in March only confirmed that for me. But I was still blown away by how very love-filled and sweetly sentimental their wedding day was. There were so many moments that brought tears to my eyes, and so many wonderful opportunities to create beautiful photos capturing their day. It was such an honor to be the photographer for such a lovely wedding!
The couple started out their day getting ready with their closest friends and family, with so many fun moments of laughter as they all prepared for the big day. Willemijn and Kurt had chosen to do a brief "first look" in the bridal suite before heading over to the church, and it was so cute watching them see each other for the first time on their wedding day!
We then headed over to Trinity Presbyterian Church, where the ceremony was to be held. The bride and groom had invited their families to join them prior to the ceremony for some group photos, so we took advantage of the church's lovely grounds and architecture for bridal party and family formals!
Trinity Presbyterian is just as beautiful inside as it is out, and provided a gorgeous setting for Willemijn and Kurt's wedding ceremony! There were so many emotional moments throughout the ceremony -- but perhaps my favorite was when Willemijn's family surprised them with a series of beautiful musical performances. Or maybe when both Willemijn and Kurt teared up during the charge. Or probably the congregational benediction to the couple at the end. Or... :)
Then it was off to Lakeside Manor for the reception! While the guests meandered into the cocktail hour, Willemijn and Kurt, accompanied by their bridal party, explored the gorgeous lakeside grounds for more formal portraits.
We then sneaked into the cocktail hour, just in time for the parents and bridal party to be announced, and for Willemijn and Kurt's first dance as husband and wife!
Then another one of my favorite parts of the wedding day: Willemijn specifically requested some outdoor sunset portraits of the two of them. We'd been watching the weather the entire week leading up to the big day, and there had been rain off and on in the forecast, so I wasn't sure if we were going to be able to pull this off. But our hopes were answered -- what little rain there was all happened during the hour of the wedding ceremony, while we were all safely inside, and left behind just enough clouds to make for a glorious sunset sky!
Then it was back into the reception for a truly lovely evening of toasts, dinner, dancing, cake, and so much fun with so many loved ones surrounding the happy couple!
Congratulations again, Willemijn and Kurt! May you be blessed with a marriage even more wonderfully joyous and hospitable than your wedding day!
Many thanks to the amazing vendors who helped make Willemijn and Kurt's day such a beautiful success!
Special shout-out to my awesome second shooter, Audrey Ditzler!!
